Hu Tao is one of the newest characters in Genshin Impact, and in case you weren’t lucky enough to get her when she first came out, she is in this current banner, so you have another chance to add her to your team. So if you were lucky, and were able to get her, congratulations, as she is one of the best at dealing single target damage, making her perfect to use against bosses. So having her in a team with a character that is great at dealing AoE damage, is an amazing combo. But if you’re unsure of what exactly works for her, here you will find what are some of the best weapons to use with her, and what artifacts make her even stronger.

Artifacts

Hu Tao is a pyro character, and your focus should be to make her deal as much damage as possible. So for artifacts, you should use four Crimson Witch of Flames. It increases pyro damage by 15%, increases Overloaded and Burning damage by 40%, Vaporize and Melt damage by 15%, and using an elemental skill increases the two-piece set by 50% by 10 seconds, and can be stacked three times. As a replacement, you can also use four Shimenawa’s Reminiscence. It increases your attack by 15%, and when using an elemental skill with more than 15 energy, it will remove 15 energy, and increase your normal/plunging/charged attacks by 50% for 10 seconds. This cannot be stacked. If you’re new to the game and don’t have access to these artifacts, you can equip her with the berserker set.

For the artifacts stats, you should focus on getting HP, Pyro damage bonus, crit damage, or crit rate. As for secondary stats, HP, crit rate, and crit damage.

Weapons

If you were lucky enough to get the Staff of Homa, it is currently the best weapon choice for her. It increases HP by 20%, provides an attack bonus based on 0.8% of the wielder’s max HP, and when the wielder’s HP is lower than 50%, the attack bonus is increased by an additional 1% of the max HP. This works perfectly if you have Hu Tao’s second passive unlocked, which increases her pyro damage. So keeping Hu Tao with less than 50% life is great, and with this weapon and her passive, the damage is going to be insane.

In case you don’t have the Staff of Homa, you can use the Primordial Jade Winged-Spear if you have it. Both these weapons are five stars, but if you never did any summons in the weapons banner, don’t worry, you can use other weapons. Deathmatch is a great pick, and you can get it by buying the gnostic hymn, and getting to level 30 in the battle pass. Two other viable options are Dragons’ Bane and Black Tassel.

Summary

Hu Tao is great when teamed up with characters that can combo with her, so put her in a team with characters like Ganyu, Tartaglia, Xinqiu, and Kaeya. Using elemental reactions will help you deal a great amount of damage, and if you have a character that gives shields, like Zhongli, this will help her keep low health, and stay alive.
